Senior Product Manager - MaaS
Solar Square
The Role
As Senior Product Manager - MaaS, you will own the product vision and execution for SolarSquare’s
Maintenance-as-a-Service business, a new vertical that extends SSE’s home-energy platform to non-SSE
customers. This is a hands-on, end-to-end ownership role in an early-stage, high-ambiguity context,
where the product charter is still being defined and the business model is still being proven.
You will work closely with the MaaS business lead, engineering, design, and field operations to shape
how the product works - from the customer acquisition and onboarding flow through service delivery,
scheduling, billing, and ongoing engagement. The role requires both sharp product thinking and genuine
comfort operating in an environment where the playbook doesn’t yet exist.
Scope & Ownership
● Own the MaaS product end-to-end - from customer discovery and onboarding through service
scheduling, delivery, billing, and renewal. This is a zero-to-one charter.
● Build the product capability that enables SSE to serve non-SSE solar customers reliably at scale -
including customer identity and plant onboarding, eligibility and plan selection, AMC service
scheduling and visit management, billing/ payment flows, and customer-facing communication.
● Own the integration between MaaS and the broader SSE platform - specifically how MaaS
customers are represented in internal SSE systems without creating bespoke systems that
fragment the platform.
● Drive product discovery through close engagement with MaaS customers, field service teams,
and business stakeholders.
● Define success metrics, track adoption and business outcomes, and iterate post-launch with a
bias toward closing what doesn’t work.
● Identify and address recurring inefficiencies, rework, and escalations across the MaaS customer
journey through better product and system design.
● Partner with engineering and design to balance near-term delivery with foundational work
required to scale the MaaS business reliably.
What Success Requires
● 4–6 years of product management experience, ideally in consumer-facing or service-delivery
contexts where the customer journey spans digital and physical touchpoints - home services,
mobility, logistics, healthcare, or similar.
● Proven track record of owning a product problem end-to-end - from discovery and definition
through execution, measurement, and iteration.
● Comfort operating in early-stage, low-structure environments - able to derive problem
understanding from direct observation, stakeholder conversations, and data rather than waiting
for documentation to exist.
● Strong analytical instinct - uses data to inform prioritisation and decisions, and can reason from
first principles about what metrics actually reflect product and business health.
● Field operator design instinct is a meaningful plus - the MaaS service delivery layer involves
ground teams and non-desk users. Candidates with experience designing for field-force or
service-delivery contexts are preferred.
● Understanding of subscription, renewal, and service-contract business models - how customers
make plan decisions, what drives retention, and how pricing and product interact.
● Ability to work across a cross-functional team including a business owner, engineering, design,
and operations - driving alignment and execution without positional authority.
● Clear, structured written communication - able to translate ambiguous business problems into
precise product requirements and make trade-offs legible to technical and non-technical
stakeholders alike
