Roles and Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable backend services for web and mobile applications in a remote environment.
• Develop and evolve application features using established software engineering standards and best practices.
• Collaborate with product owners, architects, QA, and DevOps to deliver reliable releases on time.
• Translate business requirements into technical solutions, including data flow, service boundaries, and API contracts.
• Own the end-to-end lifecycle of backend components: from planning and implementation through testing, deployment, and monitoring.
• Ensure services are secure, performant, and maintainable, aligned with organizational policies and coding guidelines.
• Act as a technical mentor to engineers through reviews, pairing, documentation, and knowledge sharing.
• Identify risks early and propose practical mitigation strategies for performance, reliability, and maintainability.

Required Qualifications

• Demonstrated professional experience delivering production-grade backend systems.
• Strong experience building server-side applications using modern Java-based frameworks.
• Proven ability to design and implement RESTful services and maintain consistent API contracts.
• Hands-on experience with Spring-based development practices and enterprise application patterns.
• Solid understanding of application architecture, layering, dependency management, and modular design.
• Experience integrating backend services with external systems, databases, and messaging or scheduling mechanisms.
• Competence in writing automated tests and ensuring quality through CI-friendly workflows.
• Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to interpret logs, metrics, and traces.
• Excellent communication skills for remote collaboration, including clear updates and documentation.
• Ability to contribute to technical design discussions and provide pragmatic engineering guidance.

Key Responsibilities

• Implement backend features and enhancements while maintaining backward compatibility where required.
• Develop RESTful endpoints, validate input/output, and enforce consistent error handling and response structures.
• Build and maintain service-layer logic, including transaction handling and efficient data access patterns.
• Optimize performance by addressing bottlenecks in code, queries, concurrency, and external calls.
• Collaborate on system design: define APIs, service responsibilities, and integration approaches.
• Ensure security best practices are applied, including safe handling of authentication/authorization concerns.
• Write unit and integration tests, and support test execution in automated pipelines.
• Review pull requests for correctness, readability, maintainability, and adherence to standards.
• Monitor service behavior post-release and troubleshoot production issues with clear root-cause analysis.
• Maintain technical documentation, including API documentation, design notes, and operational guidance.
• Continuously improve engineering practices by suggesting refactors, patterns, and tooling enhancements.

We are looking for a skilled Test Materialisation & Execution Engineer to design, build, and enhance testing infrastructure that enables reliable and efficient software validation. The role involves working on test frameworks, execution environments, automation systems, and developer tooling to improve software quality at scale.

The ideal candidate is a strong problem solver with hands-on experience in testing ecosystems, build systems, and scalable execution environments. You should be comfortable working with complex codebases and building solutions that help engineering teams ship reliable software faster.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop test execution frameworks and automation solutions.
• Build and maintain systems for test discovery, execution, reporting, and validation.
• Work with test runners, build systems, and development ecosystems to improve testing workflows.
• Develop scalable and reliable execution environments using sandboxed or containerized technologies.
• Integrate testing solutions with CI/CD pipelines and engineering workflows.
• Analyze test performance, reliability, and effectiveness to improve developer productivity.
• Work with engineering teams to identify and resolve flaky tests and improve test coverage.
• Build tools that enable safe execution of generated or untrusted code at scale.

Must Have Skills

• Hands-on experience with test frameworks and runners in at least one major programming ecosystem (Java, .NET, or similar).
• Strong understanding of build systems and software execution environments.
• Experience with sandboxed or containerized execution approaches.
• Strong programming skills in Python and/or TypeScript.
• Experience designing and implementing automation solutions.
• Ability to understand complex software systems and deliver production-ready solutions.

Good to Have

• Experience with CI/CD pipeline internals.
• Knowledge of code coverage tools and test analytics.
• Experience with flaky test detection and mitigation strategies.
• Exposure to test-impact analysis techniques.
• Experience safely executing untrusted, generated, or dynamically created code.
• Experience building developer tools or engineering productivity platforms.
