Product Design
Design Leadership
Design Systems
Enterprise / Workflow Product Design

Job Description: Lead Product Designer

Location: Bengaluru

Experience: 7-10 years

About Solar Square

Solar Square is India’s largest and fastest-growing residential rooftop solar company. We are on a mission to make solar simple, safe, and reliable for every Indian home - powering the country’s transition to independent clean energy.

Recognized by the World Economic Forum (Technology Pioneers 2025), TIME & Statista’s World’s Top Greentech Companies, and Forbes Top 100 To Watch, Solar Square is helping shape the future of home

energy in India.

The Role

As Lead Product Designer, you will be responsible for raising the quality, consistency, and effectiveness of product design across Solar Square's entire product surface area. This is a player-coach role - as the first dedicated design leader at Solar Square, you will lead and develop designers while remaining

hands-on as an individual contributor on high-impact problem areas.

Your scope spans Solar Square's full product surface - customer-facing journeys (acquisition, onboarding,

CX app) and internal workflow-heavy products used by sales, operations, and field teams. Design

decisions here directly affect how field operators work, how customers experience their energy journey, and how product teams frame and solve problems.

You will establish research as a core practice, build practical design rituals that raise output quality without slowing delivery, and partner closely with product leadership to shape how design works at SSE.

This role is designed for someone who enjoys being close to the work and raising quality through craft and judgment.

Scope of Responsibility

● Own design quality and consistency across SSE’s full product breadth - customer journeys,

acquisition and onboarding flows, internal operator tools, sales and ops execution, and

field-facing applications.

● Lead, mentor, and review the work of a small team of designers - set clear quality standards,

provide hands-on guidance, and build a high-bar design culture from the ground up.

● Act as an individual contributor on complex or high-impact problem areas - own design

end-to-end and set the bar through example.

● Establish user research as a core practice, including methods suited to non-desk users - field

observation, workflow shadowing, and contextual inquiry with operators and ground teams.

● Partner with PMs upstream in problem discovery - shape problem statements and workflow logic before screens are designed, not after.

● Establish practical design rituals - reviews, critiques, handoffs, that improve output quality

without creating overhead.

● Mature and evolve SSE’s design system, starting from a basic external-agency foundation and

iterating toward greater consistency and reuse.

● Drive design UAT and own the gap between design intent and what ships.

● Bring AI tools into the design workflow to accelerate iteration, generate rapid variants, and

synthesize research at scale - and coach the team to build the same fluency.

What Success Requires

● 7-10 years of product design experience, with at least 2-3 yrs’ experience managing or mentoring junior designers.

● Strong design fundamentals across both consumer-facing experiences and internal or

workflow-heavy products - comfort switching contexts and knowing what each requires.

● A track record of raising design quality and building design systems in fast-moving environments where processes and inputs are still evolving.

● Functional design instinct - designs for workflows, task efficiency, and decision support, and not just visual quality.

● Specific experience designing for non-desk, operator, or field-force users - logistics, field services, manufacturing, healthcare operations, or similar.

● Comfort with low-fidelity, high-speed prototyping - knows when to sketch and test vs. when to

invest in polish, and defaults to the former.

● Familiarity with AI design tools and a genuine interest in building AI-first workflows within the

team - not just personally fluent, but able to bring others along.

● Ability to hold their ground on design decisions with PMs, engineers, and senior stakeholders

without relying on positional authority.

● Collaborative, low-ego working style that builds trust quickly in a cross-functional environment

Job Description: Product Manager – IoT

Location: Bengaluru

Experience: 2 - 3 years

About Solar Square

Solar Square (SSE) is India’s largest and fastest-growing residential rooftop solar company.

We are on a mission to make solar simple, safe, and reliable for every Indian home - powering the country’s transition to independent clean energy.

Recognized by the World Economic Forum (Technology Pioneers 2025), TIME & Statista’s World’s Top Greentech Companies, and Forbes Top 100 To Watch, Solar Square is helping shape the future of home energy in India.

The Role

As Group Product Manager - IoT & Asset Intelligence, you will own the product portfolio responsible for software PM who would have ideally worked in an industry where IoT was used - e.g. EVs, Logistics etc. even similar companies as Schneider/Enphase but on the software side. monitoring, interpreting, and acting on signals from Solar Square’s installed asset base - solar plants ,inverters, batteries, and hybrid energy systems. This is a senior, hands-on role with direct accountability for outcomes across a domain where software decisions have immediate physical consequences: a missed alert means a degraded plant; a poorly routed signal means a preventable liability.

The core of this role is the intelligence layer - turning raw hardware signals into high-confidence,

actionable information that the right stakeholder can act on without needing to interpret the data

themselves. Product decisions here directly affect plant uptime, field-force utilization, financial liabilities, and customer trust.

Scope & Ownership

● Own the asset monitoring and intelligence product portfolio - including plant health monitoring,

alert detection and triage logic, remote corrective action workflows, and customer-facing

performance visibility. Scope spans solar plants today and extends to batteries and hybrid energy

systems as SSE’s product portfolio expands.

● Build the intelligence layer that turns raw IoT signals into confident, stakeholder-ready

information - defining what constitutes a meaningful alert, how severity is assessed, which

issues can be resolved remotely versus require a field dispatch, and how false positive rates are

reduced over time.

● Unify data streams from heterogeneous hardware (inverters, meters, battery management

systems, hybrid controllers) into a coherent data model that powers downstream products

reliably - without requiring every consumer of that data to understand the underlying hardware

complexity.

● Extend monitoring and intelligence capabilities to batteries and hybrid systems - understand how

the data model, alert logic, and health metrics differ from solar-only plants, and build a product

layer that handles multi-asset homes without fragmenting the platform.

● Design the information surfaces that enable each stakeholder to act with confidence - a central

response team that needs system-level triage context, field teams that need precise dispatch

briefs, and customers who need clear, jargon-free visibility into their plant and energy system

health.

● Own the signal-to-dispatch handoff - define what a well-formed, actionable dispatch looks like so that field scheduling and execution teams can act on it without re-investigating the problem.

Quality of this output is a core accountability of the role.

● Identify and address structural noise in the alert pipeline - recurring false positives, signals that

don’t close the loop after resolution, and patterns that indicate a model or data quality problem

rather than a real asset issue.

● Set priorities across product areas and coach PMs on problem framing, solution quality, and

decision-making under data uncertainty.

● Partner with engineering to balance near-term reliability work with the foundational data

architecture investments required to scale the intelligence layer across asset types.

What Success Requires

● 2+ years of product management experience, with meaningful depth in IoT, telemetry, asset

monitoring, or intelligence systems - energy management, fleet telematics, smart infrastructure,

predictive maintenance, or similar contexts where physical signals drive operational decisions.

● Experience building products on top of IoT or sensor data - understands data quality challenges

(signal inconsistency, false positives, dropout, protocol variance), can reason about alert logic

from first principles, and knows how to build feedback loops that improve signal fidelity over

time.

● Familiarity with multi-asset or multi-hardware environments is a meaningful advantage -

experience spanning solar inverters, battery systems, or hybrid energy controllers is directly

relevant. Candidates who have worked on EV charging infrastructure, home energy management

systems, or storage-integrated solar platforms are particularly well-suited.

● Comfort making decisions with imperfect data - can reason through asymmetry, missing signals,

and competing interpretations without waiting for perfect information, while being explicit

about where uncertainty lives and how it should affect downstream action.

● Technical fluency sufficient to engage credibly with engineers on data models, MQTT pipelines,

API design, and system architecture. Act as a genuine peer to Engg, helping identify the right

questions and pressure-test design choices.

● Proven experience owning business outcomes in signal-driven or asset-monitoring environments

(alert precision, false positive rates, time-to-detection, liability reduction, plant uptime).

● Demonstrated capability to lead and coach PMs - sets a high bar on problem framing and

solution quality, and builds an environment where the team owns problems rather than waiting

for direction.

● Active use of AI tools in day-to-day product work - can point to specific, concrete ways AI has

changed how they work, and is curious about how AI changes alert intelligence, anomaly

detection, and predictive maintenance in an IoT product context.

● Excellent cross-functional credibility with engineering and operations leaders - built through

judgment and follow-through

About SolarSquare

Solar Square is India’s largest and fastest-growing residential rooftop solar company. We are on a mission to make solar simple, safe, and reliable for every Indian home - powering the country’s transition to independent clean energy.

Recognized by the World Economic Forum (Technology Pioneers 2025), TIME & Statista’s World’s Top Greentech Companies, and Forbes Top 100 To Watch, Solar Square is helping shape the future of home energy in India.

The Role

As a Group Product Manager – Presales, you will own the product systems that sit at the heart of

SolarSquare’s lead-to-sales visit conversion engine. This is a senior, hands-on role with direct

accountability for outcomes across one of the company’s most commercially critical domains -

converting qualified intent into a scheduled, completed visit.

The role requires operating close to real-world conversion constraints while maintaining clarity across

multiple products and teams. Product decisions here directly affect lead conversion rates, LRM team

productivity, and the quality and volume of visits that feed the sales engine. Success depends on sharp

analytical judgment, the ability to build structure where little exists, and the discipline to turn a complex,

intervention-heavy presales motion into a system that scales reliably as the business grows.

Scope & Ownership

● Own a portfolio of presales-facing products and business problem areas - lead scoring and

prioritisation, intervention orchestration, LRM workflow tooling, and funnel conversion metrics.

● Build and own SolarSquare’s lead scoring capability - define what signals predict conversion,

distinguish correlation from causation, and work with engineering and data teams to translate

that into a scoring model that drives prioritisation decisions in real time.

● Own the intervention logic that determines how, when, and through which channel the LRM

team engages each lead - and systematically improve conversion outcomes through better

orchestration.

● Own the CRM redesign and workflow extension - understand the current system deeply (from

the ground up), identify where workflows have outgrown the system, and rebuild it to support

current workflows and new acquisition channels reliably.

● Identify and address recurring inefficiencies, rework, and escalations across the lead-to-visit

journey through better system and product design.

● Set priorities across product areas, ensuring focus on the highest-leverage opportunities for

conversion efficiency and LRM team productivity.

● Drive end-to-end problem solving - from framing and discovery through execution, post-launch

iteration, and automation.

● Coach PMs, raising the bar on problem framing, solution quality, and decision-making.

● Partner with business and engineering teams to balance near-term delivery with foundational

improvements required for scale.

What Success Requires

● 8–10+ years of product management experience, ideally in inside sales systems, lead

management, growth infrastructure, or similarly conversion-focused domains.

● Strong analytical instinct with a genuine point of view on lead scoring - knows what signals to

look at, separate predictive signals from noise, and validate a scoring model.

● Analytics-heavy PM background preferred - comfortable working with data directly, defining

instrumentation requirements, and reasoning from first principles about conversion mechanics.

● Hands-on experience with AI-driven product features - voicebots, recommendation systems,

automated intervention logic, or similar.

● Comfort building structure from scratch; brings structure to ambiguous environments.

● Strong product judgment with the ability to reason across conversion mechanics, workflow

constraints, and downstream data dependencies simultaneously.

● Ability to operate at multiple altitudes - hands-on problem solving as well as shaping priorities

across a product portfolio.

● Demonstrated capability to lead, coach, and hold a high bar for PMs and cross-functional teams.

● Excellent stakeholder management skills, including the ability to influence senior sales and

engineering leaders through clarity and credibility.
