Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced Maintenance Lead – PLC, Automation & Robotics to lead automation engineering, maintenance, troubleshooting, commissioning, and optimization of highly automated BESS assembly and manufacturing lines.

The ideal candidate should have strong hands-on expertise in PLC programming, industrial robotics, servo and motion systems, industrial communication networks, laser welding, pneumatics, MES, HMI, and production automation.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead PLC programming, troubleshooting, logic optimization, commissioning, and maintenance using Keyence KV8000, Siemens TIA Portal, Mitsubishi GX Works 2/3, and Omron Sysmac Studio.
  • Manage PLC-HMI communication, data logging, machine integration, and production monitoring systems.
  • Handle FAT/SAT, machine commissioning, validation, and automation system integration.
  • Configure, tune, and troubleshoot servo drives and motion-control systems, including Inovance and other precision motion platforms.
  • Lead operation, programming, path teaching, commissioning, and maintenance of KUKA, Yamaha, and FANUC robots.
  • Troubleshoot robotic controllers, servo systems, mechanical issues, communication failures, and programming-related problems.
  • Optimize robotic cycle time and overall equipment performance.
  • Manage and troubleshoot industrial communication networks including EtherCAT, PROFINET, CC-Link, and EtherNet/IP.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot distributed I/O systems including Beckhoff, SMC, Elco, and other automation platforms.
  • Lead preventive and breakdown maintenance of laser welding systems, including IPG Photonics, Max Photonics, and Carman Haas welding heads/optics.
  • Ensure proper alignment, maintenance, and performance of laser and optical systems used in BESS manufacturing.
  • Manage SMC and Airtac pneumatic systems, including cylinders, solenoid valves, FRLs, manifolds, and vacuum systems.
  • Optimize pneumatic and vacuum systems to improve equipment reliability and reduce compressed-air consumption.
  • Drive improvements in OEE, equipment availability, cycle time, MTBF, and MTTR while reducing recurring breakdowns.
  • Plan manpower deployment for breakdown maintenance, preventive maintenance, commissioning, and improvement activities.
  • Lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA), CAPA, and continuous improvement initiatives for chronic automation and equipment failures.
  • Manage critical automation spares, inventory, AMC/service requirements, and vendor relationships.


Candidate Profile

  • 12+ years of experience in automated manufacturing environments.
  • Strong hands-on experience in PLC, robotics, automation maintenance, and troubleshooting.
  • Experience in BESS, EV, lithium-ion battery manufacturing, or other highly automated production environments will be preferred.
  • Strong understanding of preventive and breakdown maintenance, RCA, CAPA, OEE, MTBF, and MTTR.
  • Ability to lead maintenance teams and coordinate effectively with production, engineering, OEMs, and external vendors.

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Project Engineer – BESS to lead the technical sizing, design, and solutioning of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and integrated Solar + Storage projects. The ideal candidate will have 8-10 years of experience in renewable energy, power systems, and energy storage, with expertise in system design, transformer selection, grid integration, and project execution. This role involves supporting projects from feasibility analysis through engineering design, technical proposals, customer engagement, and commissioning support.


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform technical sizing and solutioning of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), including battery capacity, inverter sizing, auxiliary systems, and overall system optimization.
  • Conduct feasibility studies, load profile analysis, and energy modeling to recommend optimal BESS configurations and energy management strategies.
  • Design, size, and specify power and distribution transformers (oil-filled and dry-type) for BESS and renewable energy applications.
  • Evaluate Solar PV + BESS project sites, including solar generation potential, land availability, electrical infrastructure, and grid connection requirements.
  • Develop optimized system designs considering cost, efficiency, performance, lifecycle, and regulatory compliance.
  • Analyze customer energy consumption patterns and prepare customized technical solutions, solution architecture, and integration strategies.
  • Prepare technical proposals, engineering documentation, compliance reports, and tender submissions.
  • Collaborate with R&D, Product Development, Supply Chain, and Project Execution teams to enhance existing products and develop new energy storage solutions.
  • Provide technical support during customer meetings, pre-sales discussions, solution presentations, and business case development.
  • Resolve technical queries, troubleshoot system performance issues, and recommend performance optimization strategies.
  • Conduct technical training for internal teams, EPC partners, customers, and service engineers.
  • Support Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), Site Acceptance Tests (SAT), commissioning, and project handover activities.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable IEC, IEEE, UL, and other relevant electrical and renewable energy standards.


Required Skills

  • Strong understanding of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) architecture and components, including Battery Packs, Battery Management Systems (BMS), Power Conversion Systems (PCS), Energy Management Systems (EMS), Transformers, and Switchgear.
  • Hands-on experience in BESS sizing, electrical system design, and renewable energy integration.
  • Expertise in transformer sizing, specification, and selection for grid-connected renewable energy projects.
  • Experience with Solar PV systems, hybrid Solar + BESS projects, site feasibility studies, and grid integration.
  • Strong knowledge of load profile analysis, energy modeling, lifecycle cost analysis, and system performance optimization.
  • Familiarity with electrical protection systems, HV/LV distribution systems, and utility interconnection requirements.
